Choosing the perfect location
When it came to Charlotte and Tom choosing the location for their engagement shoot, there really was only one place on the cards. Having got engaged in Buttermere in the Lake District only a few months before, it was the perfect spot for the shoot. I absolutely love it when a location is not only a beautiful backdrop, but also has a real special meaning to the couple.
If you didn’t already know, I was actually born in the Lake District, so any excuse to go back is a big yes from me!
Chasing the sun
In typical Lake District fashion, it was thick cloud when we arrived.
We had a wander round the lake to the bench where Charlotte & Tom got engaged, chatting about plans for the wedding day.
And then, much to our surprise, the sun finally made an appearance! At this point, we all got a bit giddy, as is one’s prerogative when Lake District clouds decide to part!
Each of us rooting for a golden hour worthy of the couple and the trip, we made our way back round to where the sun would be perfect in the final few minutes of daylight. Although the sun failed to reappear from behind the Lake District hills, the sky turned the most incredible shade of red.. it honestly felt like we were on a film set!
I couldn’t have imagined a more stunning setting for an engagement shoot, and I think all three of us were very grateful to mother nature that evening.
