Engagement shoots, pre wedding shoots, couples shoots. Whatever you want to call them, they are a HUGE part of what I do as a wedding photographer.
I have always, and probably will always include these shoots as part of my wedding packages. Most people feel a little nervous about being photographed on the lead up to their wedding day, and let me tell you, this is exactly the reason an engagement shoot is such a good idea.
They are the perfect opportunity not only for us to get to know each other a little better, but will get rid of those initial nerves you may be feeling about being in front of the camera. We’ll try lots of different photos – whether it’s nice and natural like walking together, more romantic ones with kisses and cuddles, or something a bit more fun like running through fields or piggybacks. This gives me an idea of what you guys like, what you don’t like, and ultimately means that we can absolutely nail the wedding photos because we’ve already done the experimenting.
We can do the shoot at a location that’s special to you, or I’m always happy to send through some ideas if you’re struggling. It can be as simple as a walk with the dog in your favourite spot, or as adventurous as a swim in a Lake District tarn. I’m always happy to see where I’ll be heading to next!
Without a doubt the most important reason to have an engagement shoot. Ultimately, the aim is to settle any nerves you might be feeling about having your photo taken, with the end result being some absolutely cracking images of you both on the wedding day.
Let’s face it, we’re going to be spending a lot of time together on the biggest day of your life! This is the perfect opportunity for me to get to know you both a little better and to hear about all your amazing plans for the wedding. But don’t forget, it’s also a chance for you to get to know me, see how I work, and ask me any questions you might have thought of before the big day.
The shoots are a great chance to practice for the wedding photos, but you also get a whole extra set of images that you can use for your wedding invites, website, table centrepieces or guestbooks. And of course, to share on Instagram on the lead up to the wedding!
