A luxury black tie wedding at Thicket Priory

So I had no idea what to expect from Thicket Priory, having never photographed a wedding there before, but blown away doesn’t even cut it! Nestled where East Yorkshire and North Yorkshire converge, this Grade II architectural gem boasts secret staircases behind bookcases, little fairy doors, and teeny tiny pantries fully stocked with Tunnock’s teacakes!

Videographer Jon and I were lucky enough to bag a cheeky tour before the guests arrived; I like to have a nosey around old venues, so this was a real treat. Luxury was certainly word of the day, a tone carried forward by the handsome couple.. think his and his Christian Louboutins, all the guests decked out in black tie, and personalised embroidery in the lining of the grooms’ suits which read: “f*ck it” and “why not.” Gotta love a same-sex wedding for complementary sartorial banter!

And what better way to feel energised and refreshed before your wedding day? According to Joey, an IV drip with all the nutrients to set him up for the day ahead! It was a feature I have only ever seen in Kardashian territory before, so I would of course expect nothing less from these two.

Once Rob and Joey were suited and booted, Deborah from True To You Celebrancy delivered a very personal service tailored to the happy couple, which was witty and moving in equal measure. Thicket Priory can definitely add ‘sublime acoustics’ to its enviable CV, courtesy of an incredible sounding Hallelujah sung by the guests and a gospel choir. Despite a forecast of rain all day, the sun seemed to make an appearance exactly when we needed it.

To top off what was a sensational day, Rob and Joey surprised everyone with singing waiters, who blew us all away.  Featuring a rendition of ‘From now on’ from The Greatest Showman, I have really never witnessed an atmosphere like it before at a wedding!
