2024 Roundup

Yorkshire Wedding Photographer Autumn Yorkshire Wedding Photographer Alicia&liam44

2024 has been my busiest year of weddings to date, and I feel I’ve learnt a lot this year. My most important lesson being that I no longer measure success by how full my diary is! In fact, it might just be the very opposite. Having the luxury of time feels like such a blessing these days: time to do things that make me genuinely happy.

Something that has always been so important to me is never to spread myself too thinly when it comes to you guys – my gorgeous couples! No one wants their wedding photographer turning up on the day looking like a zombie because it’s their 5th wedding in a row. No thank you! Each and every wedding I do never feels like another day at the office because it’s a WEDDING. It’s your biggest and most special day, so that’s how I see it too.

In 2025 I’ll be taking a step back in the number of weddings I take on, so I can continue to put my heart and soul into every one I do!

So anyway chaps.. on with the show! Let’s take a look back at what’s been a very busy yet very lovely 2024.

The year of course started off with my hibernation (i.e. non-wedding season!). I always take a month or two off at the start of each year to properly switch off and recharge before the start of each wedding season. Harry and I went to Portugal for my birthday, I did a paint-by-numbers (yes, they still do exist outside of lockdown!) and did lots of running training for my first ever 10km race!

My first shoot back was epic. I decided to put together a collaborative Valentines-inspired shoot to celebrate creativity, colour and fun! On board I had the most glorious of couples Lydia and Joe, who I’d done a shoot with a few years before in the Lake District. We had Kirsty from River and Rose in charge of florals, and Lottie Haigh bossing the hair styling. It was SUCH a joy to experiment and try out so many different ideas, and create photos that were full of colour and so much happiness, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Before I knew it, the 2024 wedding season was upon us! Hannah and Rob kicked things off with their spring wedding at the beautiful Goldsborough Hall. The season took me all over Yorkshire, from the elegance of Priory Cottages, to the grandness of Wharfedale Grange. It was also my first time visiting Howsham Hall and it totally blew me away, particularly with the backdrop of the stunning cherry blossoms!

Springtime also brings with it the start of the year’s engagement shoots. The colours of the trees and flowers are just stunning, so I always like to make the most of the seasonal gorgeousness as much as possible.

As summer started to appear, I was inevitably back at my most visited venues: The Tithe Barn at Bolton Abbey! This year I photographed my 19th wedding there if you can believe it! The summer season was full of colour and big beaming smiles, which of course is a big yes in my book.

In June I was lucky enough to travel to the south of France for Hayley & Alex’s wedding! I felt incredibly lucky to travel all that way to shoot a wedding. It wasn’t my first time at Le Moulin either, so it was such a treat to be back in Cognac. The weather wasn’t spectacular, but as guests had travelled from all over the world to celebrate, no one’s spirits were dampened.

As the summer nights drew in and the leaves started to change colour, I visited yet more venues across Yorkshire that I was yet to discover! Thicket Priory and High Brockholme Barns were two personal highlights. Even though the days grow shorter, there’s something so wholesome and cosy about those autumn weddings that I absolutely love.

In November I took some time off after what had been a jam-packed wedding season! Harry and I travelled to Italy and explored Pisa, Cinque Terre and Rome. Back in time for the my final wedding of the year at Oakwoood at Ryther.

After working my bottom off over the last few months, I’ve been able to catch up on all my editing just in time for the festive season! I’ll be kicking back and enjoying some downtime with my loved ones.

A huge thank you to the 40 couples whose weddings I’ve photographed this year. You guys have been such fabulous people and have made me feel so welcome on your special days. Wishing you all a very happy and healthy 2025!
